Academy Update 07/08/20

Posted on: August 8, 2020

We are now at the mid point of the summer holidays. Three weeks of summer school have passed in a flash and I hope that all the students who have attended have enjoyed themselves as much as the staff. The next two weeks give us the chance to welcome our new Year 7 students. We will be using this time to get students into OSSMA routines and values and prepare them for September. The summer school for the rest of the year groups will start up again in week 6.

We are also continuing our preparations for a full reopening in September. We will be filming an informational video on Monday which should be ready for release the following week. This will show parents and students the measures we are putting in place to keep everyone safe. This will look very different to what students have experienced in the past. Once you have seen the video please email me (nbrennan@ossma.co.uk) if you have any questions.

Year 11 students will be able to collect their GCSE grades from the academy on Thursday 20th August. Students have been sent a letter with their designated time to receive results, but if you have not received this please let Mr Smart know (msmart@ossma.co.uk).  Students have been allocated a half hour window to receive their results to allow for social distancing.  Please ensure you stick to your allocated window.  We will have an entrance and exit setup so that students/parents do not cross paths.

Although this won’t be like previous results days, I hope we can give the students some opportunity to celebrate their success – in a socially distanced way!

Have a great rest of the summer holiday and I look forward to seeing you all in September.
