Academy Update 17/07/20

Posted on: July 17, 2020

A long and very strange academic year comes to an end today.

You should receive an envelope from us early next week containing a number of letters. These letters will contain all the information you need for September. I have also included a parental FAQ document in which I have attempted to answer all the questions I thought you may have. Inevitably there will be questions I have not answered, but you are welcome to contact me either through the website or via email and I will try to answer any queries. We will also be producing an informational video that will show you the measures that the academy is putting into place and what they will look like in September.

Today was the last day of the Free School Meal deliveries by Bee Active. Since lockdown began we have delivered around 24,000 meals to the students in our community. I would like to thank Bee Active and our dedicated staff in the bistro for all their hard work in making this happen, it has been greatly appreciated. The Free School Meal vouchers will continue over the summer in the same form as they have been but on a fortnightly basis.

Although the school year has ended, the academy has not closed. Our summer school starts on Monday and will last throughout the six week holiday. Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 6 will be for our current Year 7-10. Weeks 4 and 5 will be for the Year 6 students who will join the academy in September. The summer school will have a focus on teachers building upon the remote learning that students did during the lockdown, alongside sports and craft activities in partnership with Bee Active. We have over 100 students every week and I am sure it will be a great success. We will be posting updates and reports across the summer to keep you informed.

Thank you to all of you who have supported the academy over the last few months. We have received some lovely messages from members of the community and these have been greatly appreciated by the staff.

Have a lovely summer, stay safe and we will see you all in September.
