I hope everyone has had a lovely summer and is looking forward to a return to something like normality when students return on Thursday 3rd September.
The academy and academy life will look very different when students return. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have changed how a normal day would operate. I outlined these changes when I wrote to you in July. I also promised you an informational video that would update you on these changes which you can now view here.
Most food served in the academy at lunchtime is now pre-ordered a week in advance (Y7-10). The Bistro will NOT be open at breaktime. Students are more than welcome to bring in snacks and a packed lunch if they wish. I would ask that you please complete your pre-order online for lunches having read the following page on our website. Please fill this in by Wednesday every week (for the following week’s lunches) even if you intend to provide your child with a packed lunch so we know not to follow up any missing returns. We will send out weekly reminders to you regarding this.
If you have any issues or concerns regarding your child’s return to the academy, please feel free to contact the relevant head of year:
Year 7 – [email protected]
Year 8 – [email protected]
Year 9 – [email protected]
Year 10 – [email protected]
Year 11 – [email protected]
If you wish to have a meeting with your child’s Head of Year or any other member of staff these must now be booked in advance to allow the academy to clean and prepare an appropriate space. Staff cannot meet parents without an appointment.
All students will be returning to the academy on Thursday 3rd September at different times:
Year 7 – 8.20am
Year 8 – 11.30am
Year 9 – 11.00am
Year 10 – 10.30am
Year 11 – 10.00am
From Friday 4th September onwards the students will start the academy at the following times:
Year 7 and Year 10 – 8.20am
Year 8, 9 and 11 – 8.50am
Hopefully, you have managed to sort out all the uniform requirements for your son or daughter. Please look at the uniform policy here. If there are any problems or queries, please contact your relevant Head of Year before your child returns to the academy so as to avoid any issues.
If you or any of your household are currently isolating due to the Coronavirus please do not send your child to the academy but instead follow Government guidance. Please inform the school office if your child is not going to be in school.
We are looking forward to seeing all the students return to the academy next week. Our expectations of the students’ conduct have risen even higher due to the circumstances we find ourselves in. It is hugely important that they act to keep themselves and others safe by following staff instructions, but I have no doubt the students and the community will meet and exceed these.
I hope you enjoy the remainder of the summer holidays
