Having already been successful in gaining the “FairAware” award, the OSSMA Fairtrade group have been working hard to achieve the next Fairtrade schools award, “FairActive”. They have organised a range of activities, including a chocolate bouquet raffle and Fairtrade bake sales. The group also led assemblies to help raise awareness and understanding of Fairtrade across the whole academy, alongside creating Fairtrade resources for reflection time.
To obtain the award, the group had to create an action plan to think about what they would like to achieve and make short, medium and long-term plans. This action plan was then used to push forward the activities they decided to organise. The creation of a giant chocolate bar to raise awareness has definitely been a highlight of the group’s activities.
They have worked extremely hard and we are pleased to announce that they have been successful in gaining the “FairActive” award for the academy, but the hard work doesn’t stop there. The group now has ambitions towards the final step in the Fairtrade school awards, the “FairAchiever” award.
Look out for more to come on Fairtrade, here at OSSMA.
