I have become increasingly concerned over the last few days at the number of confirmed positive cases amongst students in the academy. As you will be aware, we have had to close one year group bubble, and students from other year groups have also tested positive. Although there has been no change in the guidance from local Public Health, I believe that it is the right time to reintroduce further safety measures into the academy.
From Monday, I am asking for your support in ensuring that all students wear masks in communal areas of the academy. We introduced this measure in September before PHE issued the guidance, and you supported that move. I hope you will support this decision too.
I fully understand that this is unenforceable without your support. If your child previously had an exemption to wearing masks, we will provide them with the same lanyard they had before. If they didn’t previously have a lanyard and you would like them to be exempt from wearing a mask in communal areas, please contact your Head of Year via email.

Year 10 – [email protected]
If we do not hear from you and your child doesn’t have a lanyard, we will assume you want the staff to ensure that your child is wearing a mask in communal areas.
The Government promises a different approach in September to this issue, and we await guidance on what that might be. In the meantime, the academy’s number one priority is its community’s health and safety, and this measure may help. I would be grateful for your support in this matter.
If you would like to see the measures that we are taking in the academy you can do so from our Covid-19 Measures Information video at https://vimeo.com/450729359.
I will continue to regularly update you on the situation, however, I am aware of the number of letters that are being sent to you. Due to the increased number of cases that are being recorded, we will start to publish the letters to a page on our website, rather than sending them to all parents via text message. If you would like to keep track of these letters, they can be found in the Covid Support section at the following link: https://bit.ly/3h08YfB
