The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals are the UK’s oldest and most prestigious children’s book awards. Often described by authors and illustrators as ‘the one they want to win’, they are the gold standard in children’s literature.
This year, the OSSMA Oracles, which is made up of 112 predominantly Year 8 students, will be shadowing the Carnegie Award. The students all be assigned into groups with a group leader where they will all read the books that have been shortlisted for the award.
They will then have until the May half term to complete the 8 books per group. The students will write up reviews based on their opinions of the books and then they will hold a mock vote on who they think will win the prestigious awards.
The students will all meet in the bistro at 8.15am on the dates below to swap books and have a free breakfast:
Friday 24th March,
Friday 31st March,
Thursday 6th April,
Friday 28th April,
Friday 5th May,
Friday 12th May,

If your child is taking part, please encourage them to complete their book in full.
