Parental Survey Results

Posted on: February 1, 2015

Dear Parents, Carers,

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

I thought you might like the results of the independent survey we asked you to participate in recently.

  • 85.6% (an increase of 3.8% from 2013) of Parents said the Academy had a very good overall performance for the year 2014
  • Of the parents whose children were not in their first year at the academy 60% said the academy had improved over the last year and 4% thought that the academy’s performance was worse.
  • Of the parents of new students, 4% felt that the academy had not lived up to their expectations but 45% said the academy was better than they expected it to be
  • Overall, you judged the quality of students learning and progress, exam results, regular marking of work and teaching quality as OUTSTANDING
  • You viewed the extent to which your children feel safe, listening to your child’s views and promoting racial harmony as OUTSTANDING
  • Other OUTSTANDING judgements made by you were encouraging local community activity, extra-curricular opportunities for your children, control of bullying, caring teachers, academy discipline and developing potential.
  • In terms of the quality of leadership and management, you viewed it as OUTSTANDING.

We take your views very seriously and cannot thank you enough for participating in the survey.

Importantly the top three priorities for importance according to you (2014) were academy discipline, happiness of child and control of bullying. In 2013 you also included teaching quality in the top three instead of happiness of child, which has been highlighted this year. We promised you that we would strive to reach outstanding in all three top criteria from 2013 and we have achieved just that. We have also managed to achieve an outstanding grade in happiness of child which is in this year’s top three.

As the Principal, I shall continue to work at communication which was identified as a top priority for improvement for parents and keep you informed of what we are doing! We now have twenty-six methods of communication that we use to contact/communicate with parents/carers and hopefully there will be at least one method that will suit you.

Our Heads of Year and Heads of Department will continue to improve their response time in getting back to you. If at any time you do not receive a response back from our staff within two working days please contact my P.A., Mrs. Smith who will inform me and I shall contact you within 24 hours.

Again, I think overall you should be very pleased with the results of the survey and I can’t thank you enough for helping to make our academy one of which we are all proud of.

Yours sincerely

M Stanyer

Principal
