The Principal of Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy was personally invited to attend Her Majesty’s Garden Party, held at Buckingham Palace, on Tuesday 12th May 2015.
Mark Stanyer, nominated by the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, was one of 8’000 people who are recommended by various national organisations who have contributed a large amount to their community. Every year, The Queen hosts at least three garden parties where tea and cakes are served in the Palace gardens and The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh circulate among the guests, recognising and rewarding public service.
Mark Stanyer said: “I am very honoured to have been nominated for this event by the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire and I am proud to be representing the entire OSSMA family of students, parents, guardians, governors and staff for the successes that our academy has achieved in recent years .”
Professor Toby Salt, CEO of Ormiston Academies Trust, which sponsors the academy said: “We are delighted that Mark has been chosen to attend this event. This is a true reflection of the great work he has done at the academy, which received record GCSE results last year and is one of the top state schools in the country.”
