Reflection Time – Mental Health Awareness week

Posted on: May 19, 2020

For this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, the original theme was “Sleep”. Due to the Coronavirus, the Mental Health Foundation recently changed it to “Kindness”. If you follow the link there are many topics related to the theme of kindness. Votes for Schools have decided to stick with the original theme of sleep and believe is very important for students’ wellbeing, especially under the current circumstances!

With this in mind, the question up for debate is “Do you get enough sleep?” to reflect the fact that for many; young people included, the hectic nature of modern life often leads to precious rest being sacrificed. The lesson asks students to think about their own, and other young people’s sleeping habits and assess the challenges that they might face when trying to get a good night’s sleep. The presentation also includes guidance for any students (or staff/parents) who are worried about their mental health.
