Academy Update 16/04/21

Posted on: April 16, 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you have had a lovely Easter break.

Before the students return to the academy on Monday, I would like to take this opportunity to update you on current government policy and give a few reminders from myself.

Last week the Government confirmed the following:

  • The recommendation to wear masks in secondary school classrooms (when social distancing is not possible) will continue after the Easter break until (as a minimum) 17th May, when it is expected these measures will no longer be recommended.
  • The recommendation to wear masks in all communal areas for all secondary staff and pupils will continue for the foreseeable future.
  • Home testing for all staff and secondary pupils is to continue. Please ensure that this takes place every Sunday and Wednesday.
  • Extra-curricular activities can resume before and after school. You can find the PE extra-curricular timetable here
  • Students who are entitled to receive Free School Meals can access this provision in the academy as usual.

Of course, we will continue to follow Government guidance in the interests of everyone’s health and safety in our community.

Today is the last chance for parents to comment on our proposed building extension. If you would like to take this opportunity, please click here

The academy has also offered to host Employability Workshops during the summer term. These will be delivered by an external company who specialise in helping people with applications, CV writing and interviews. These workshops are free of charge. We can only run these if there is sufficient interest. If you would like to register your interest, please click here

Can I finally ask for your continued support in maintaining the high standards that exist at the academy by ensuring that your son or daughter return to us in the correct uniform. You can find the uniform policy by clicking here If you have any issues that we can help you with regarding our uniform policy, please contact your child’s Head of Year.

My best wishes to you and your family.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. N Brennan
