Black History Month Celebrations

Posted on: December 16, 2020

During PSHE lessons since October half term, students from Year 7 to 10 participated in Black History month celebrations in conjunction with Stoke City Football Club. This was a city-wide initiative which involved local high schools in our area.

As part of the celebrations, the students involved wrote a letter supporting the Marcus Rashford Free School Meal campaign and also created posters about Black History Month. Stoke City took these to the SCFC training ground for their players to select the top 3 and also sent to Marcus Rashford via social media.

Last week, we were informed by Stoke City FC that 2 of our student’s letters had been selected by the players, which was incredible! This week we received confirmation of this with videos from the players giving their reasons for choosing our students.

We are so incredibly proud of all the students who were involved in the Black History Month celebrations and especially to the following girls:

Scarlett Delaney – Year 8
Sophia McDonald Barber- Year 10

The girls will be receiving a prize from Stoke City too, which is a great Christmas surprise… if you are a Stoke City fan!
