As you may have heard in the news yesterday afternoon, the Government has changed its plans for students’ return to secondary schools across the country. Year 11 students will now, not return to the academy until Monday 11th January and Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 will not return until Monday 18th January. Online lessons for all students will begin on Tuesday 5th January. Students will follow their normal timetable, and further details will be emailed to all students on Monday 4th January. If you require paper copies of work, please contact the academy on Monday. Free school meal deliveries will continue as usual.
The purpose of this staggered return is to stop further spread of the virus and for schools and colleges to be supplied with all the necessary equipment to start testing staff and students. Once we have further guidance regarding testing, I will write to you to explain how it will work.
Schools and academies remain open to children of key workers, and if those parents need to send their children into the academy, they can do this from Tuesday 5th January. Students in the academy will be taught in the same online lessons that students at home will receive. If you are a key worker and intend to send your child into the academy from Tuesday 5th January, please complete the details by clicking on this link by the end of the day on Sunday 3rd January.
The academy has already contacted the parents of students in who the Government classify as ‘vulnerable’ inviting them to attend the academy from Tuesday 5th January. Please ensure you complete the survey that was sent to you by the end of the day on Sunday 3rd January.
If your child is returning to the academy on Tuesday 5th January, they need to attend at the same times as normal and in full academy uniform. Please ensure that they have placed their food orders online.
If you have any questions or queries regarding this or any other matter, please contact me through the academy website or by telephone.
