You may be aware of the industrial action being taken by a number of unions on Tuesday 1st October 2013.
As a result, it leaves us with no option but to close the academy for the day. Unfortunately, we cannot educate the students safely as a result of such a large number of teaching staff choosing to strike. The few members of staff who aren’t striking as they are not in any associations will be performing other professional duties on site.
Year 11 students will be required to use the day as an opportunity to undertake personal study and will be provided with revision materials in English and Mathematics in order to prepare for the November GCSE examinations.
The academy will re-open as usual on Wednesday 2nd October 2013.
I can only apologise for the disruption but I am sure you agree that the health and safety of your child is our primary concern.
