Dear Year 6 Parents applying for a place in September 2015
I am so sorry to the many of you who have been unsuccessful in gaining a place at our academy. Unfortunately the demand for places at OSSMA has outweighed our and the local authority’s expectations.
The governors were very conscious that we needed to try to provide more places for September and as a result increased the number from 210 to 250. However, despite this, there are still over 100 unsuccessful applications.
As a parent, I fully understand your upset and concern for which I am truly sorry. Sadly, we cannot do anything about the situation as we are legally bound by Stoke on Trent admissions policy. Their criteria for entry are listed on the city council website and the only advice I can give is to exercise your right to appeal. I know this isn’t ideal, but I can assure you that despite increasing our intake numbers we cannot accommodate any more students.
On behalf of the governors and I, I am again sorry if you have been unsuccessful with your application.
