Year 9 Options Evening.

Posted on: March 4, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Options Evening – Wednesday 24th March 2021

I would like to invite you to our Year 9 Options Evening held online with Ormiston Sir Stanley Mathews Academy on Wednesday 24th March. The presentation will be available to view from 6pm that evening via links on the school website.

As well as a short presentation that explains the options process for our students, you will be able to visit all option subject areas virtually via prerecorded video clips to listen to our staff as they discuss the courses on offer, as well as some student accounts of their experiences whilst studying a variety of courses. Also available on the evening will be an opportunity to ask questions that will then be answered via a follow-up video clip the following evening.

The informed decisions of what options our students will take are more important now than ever before. We know how keen everybody is to return to school and continue their learning. We all want each of our students to study the courses that are best suited to both, help them challenge them academically, and prepare them for the next stage in their life after OSSMA.

Information booklets will go home with your child on Monday 15th March prior to the parent’s evening. We encourage you to talk about your child’s suitability to a subject as an option subject during your parent’s evening consultation with staff on Wednesday 17th March. At the back of this booklet is an options selection form to complete with your child prior to your child making their final decision in early April.

To further support your child with the upcoming option process, please encourage your child to access their Unifrog accounts as well as researching their careers interests using the hyperlinks below:

Your child should have received their log in details from Unifrog via their school email address. If your child hasn’t received a welcome email in their inbox, please check the junk box before emailing Mrs Hackney at [email protected] who will be able to resolve the matter.

I do hope that you will be able to attend the Options Evening virtually. In addition to supporting your child at an important point in their education, it will give you a great deal of information about the actual courses concerned and help you to advise your child as to make the best option choices that suit them.
