It has now been a whole week since the academy shut down and I am sure we are all feeling the effects and looking forward to a more relaxing weekend.
I have been so impressed by the engagement of our students this week and so proud of some of the exceptional work they have produced. It is so important that students don’t fall behind their peers during this time and that no gap develops! A big thank you to all parents who have helped us this week, ensuring that your child continues to learn.
We were hoping that the Government and Ofqual (exams regulator) were going to announce some news this week regarding their plans for the grading of GCSEs this summer. We found out yesterday that they have pushed back this announcement to next week. I know how frustrating this is and we will keep you informed with developments as they happen.
Mark Stanyer and I had the pleasure of making Free School Meal deliveries today. It was lovely to see so many faces dealing with this challenging situation with such positivity. I think a few students may have been a little shocked when we turned up on their doorstep this morning! A massive thank you to Ben, Bobby and all the Bee Active team who help ensure that these deliveries are made every weekday. They do a great job and rest assured we will continue this provision for as long as we possibly can during this crisis.
In addition to this, the Government has now produced a national voucher for students on Free School Meals. This should be live on Monday or Tuesday and the weekly voucher will be sent to the parent of any student on Free School Meals via their mobile phone or email address. If your child qualifies for Free School Meals and you haven’t received any communication by Wednesday, please contact the academy. If you have recently changed your phone number or email address, please inform the academy on Monday.
Thank you for all your support this week and I hope you all have a great weekend.
