On Tuesday this week, a group of Year 10 students visited Oxford University to learn about university life and to raise their aspirations. They received a talk from a former student on the subjects offered at the university, the application process and how to get prepared for the move into university life. Students also had the opportunity to put their questions to current undergraduates and to find out more about studying and living in Oxford.
They were then taken on a tour of the beautiful university grounds and treated to lunch in the University College dining hall. The day finished with a visit to the Pitt Rivers Museum. It was full of many weird and wonderful anthropological objects. The group were particularly interested in a collection of shrunken heads that were replicated on the Night Bus in Harry Potter.
It was a great experience for the students and many came away with their sights set on studying at Oxford in the future.
