As part of the curriculum addressing spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues students have Reflection Time each week.
This week’s reflection time is about V.E day. This was Victory in Europe Day which was on May 8th 1945 and so on Friday this week, it is 75 years since this wonderful celebration of the end of the Second World War which had lasted from 1939 to 1945.
The celebrations were incredible with thousands of people celebrating the fact that such a dreadful period of time was over. It is a time of reflection for all those who died or were injured or suffered during this conflict.
It also feels very poignant to us at the moment, as we are going through a difficult time and it inspires us to reflect on the fact that we will get through this and to respect people who lived through the war years and how they pulled together and got through it.
Please read the activity pack below which explains all about VE day and has great ideas for how you might celebrate this amazing moment on Friday this week, May 8th.
