Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy (OSSMA) is very proud to be the lead school in “The OAKS” Partnership. “The OAKS” stands for “The OSSMA And Keele SCITT”; the “SCITT” being a “School Centered Initial Teacher Training” programme.
For those looking to enter the teaching profession, “The OAKS”, offers an outstanding training year across 5 local areas, including Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Shropshire and Birmingham.
Trainee teachers will be placed in two schools throughout the academic year, teaching classes ranging from KS3 to KS5. Trainees will have a primary placement, residential and visits to other professional agencies in order to build up their professional CV. In addition to this, Keele University will offer the PGCE element, allowing trainees to gain masters credits for their academic work.
By applying to OSSMA through UCAS you are applying to an Ofsted graded ‘good’ school with outstanding leadership and management. An academy that has outstanding facilities and a vast array of talented subject mentors who will guide you through your training year. You will be supported throughout your placement by all academy staff and receive expert professional coaching on lesson planning, up-to-date teaching methods and leadership.
It is our vision, here at the academy, that all students will be exceptional learners, experiencing a world class education. This is your opportunity to be a part of their journey.
